2025 Impact Report

Dear friends of The Salt Mine,

Thank you for supporting The Salt Mine in 2025! This past year marked our 40th year of service to the Lincoln community. With your generous help, we effectively met the needs of our Lincoln and Sheridan Neighbors. We served 1,668 unique families-impacting 5,147 unique individuals-through 43,853 requests for help. We also cared for our local homeless by providing 516 showers, approximately 200 loads of laundry, and hundreds of fresh pairs of clothing thought our clothing exchange program.

Your support keeps our community thriving. It gives families financial flexibility, peace of mind, and genuine hope, knowing they have neighbors who truly care.

This year brought many unique challenges, which we overcame only because of your generous commitment to those in need. Entering 2025, we worked to further streamline our distribution process. In order to handle the high volume of daily requests, we successfully implemented client ID cards for faster check-ins, reconfigured our volunteer onboarding process to better equip our team, secured new food donations sources to boost daily fresh food availability, and expanded our food storage capacity.

As summer arrived-bringing our first seasonal increase in need-we reached out to our community, and you answered the call. Thank you for sustaining the work through those warmer months. Your dedication shone brightest in October, amidst the government shutdown and the unfolding SNAP funding crisis. That month alone, requests for help surged 30%, with daily lines stretching blocks. The Salt Mine stood ready to respond, and you ensured we had every resources needed to meet the demand. We are truly grateful.

We closed the year strong through the holidays, distributing turkeys, holiday meals, and toys to hundreds of families. Thank you for answering our neighbors’ call for help when they needed it most.
