2026 Summer Update

The first half of 2026 is nearly over, and thanks to you, The Salt Mine has been able to stay strong in our mission of feeding our neighbors in Lincoln and Sheridan.

So far this year we have fulfilled 18,355 requests for help. That means we are serving more than 300 unique families or 1,400 individuals each week. One of the things we’re especially encouraged by is the quality of food we’ve been able to provide. Families can access free fresh food from The Salt Mine five days a week. This focus on nutritious, healthy resources is a key part of our commitment to doing the most good and being the biggest help possible for the families we serve.

As we move into the heat of summer, the needs in our community are growing. School is out, extra expenses pile up, and many families feel increased pressure just to keep food on the table. More households are turning to us more often, and the pace at the Food Closet has picked up noticeably. The Salt Mine is here to meet this seasonal surge, but we can’t do it without you. Your support allows us to keep our shelves full and our doors open five days a week, even when demand rises.
