Dear friends of The Salt Mine,
The Salt Mine is a local faith-based charity. While it may seem like a minor preface, our faith impacts everything we do. To truly understand who we are as an organization and the “why” and “how” behind our operations, you must first understand the central role our faith plays.
We truly love our community and care deeply for every one of our neighbors who call Lincoln and Sheridan home. We consider it a privilege to provide food resources to all who need them. No matter their background, identity, creed, or way of life, we are committed to showing love and compassion to everyone. We strive to live out our faith by being the kind of people Jesus described when He said,
“For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me, I was naked and you clothed me, I was sick and you visited me, I was in prison and you came to me… Truly, I say to you, as you did it to one of the least of these my brothers, you did it to me.” (Matthew 25:35-36, 40 ESV)
We desire not only to see our community prosper, but to be an active part of making that happen.
Our faith drives our commitment to our neighbors and fuels our sense of duty to help everyone who asks to the best of our ability. Our faith influences our generosity, our desire to help all who need it, our stewardship of resources, and our commitment to the community at large. Every aspect of how we serve and exist within our community is influenced by our faith.
The best way to get to know The Salt Mine is to visit us on a Sunday morning for worship at 10:00 a.m. at 590 Lincoln Blvd, Lincoln.
