At The Salt Mine, we believe that we must effectively address homelessness to help our neighbors. We believe that homelessness prevention, proper care for our unhoused neighbors, and a thriving relationship with city officials are key to the impact we have on our community.
Homelessness Prevention
Homelessness prevention is the most effective strategy to address homelessness. This is one reason why we provide families with food—to ensure our neighbors can stay in their homes in the midst of financial difficulty.
Proper Care for our Unhoused Neighbors
We are always willing to assist our unhoused neighbors when they are ready to receive help and they have the desire to get off the streets. We connect them with the proper resources that can facilitate their recovery. In the meantime, we are able to meet their everyday needs, such as food, water, showers, clothing, and laundry services. We provide these services in a manner that is helpful to the City of Lincoln.
Thriving Relationship with City Officials
The only way we can help our unhoused neighbors is for us to maintain a strong relationship with the City of Lincoln. This relationship informs our decisions and provides us with effective and sustainable strategies that are beneficial to everyone. We believe that working together with our community leaders is the best way to assist Lincoln and Sheridan!
For 39 years, The Salt Mine has loved all of our neighbors without discrimination, while at the same time not promoting homelessness in our city. We will continue to be your local charity and a leader in homelessness prevention by effectively assisting all of our neighbors. Over the next month, we will continue to share specifics about our strategies for helping this community, so keep an eye out for more blog posts. Thank you for your constant support!
Blessings,
